Why traders look for an affordable prop firm challenge

When you buy a prop firm evaluation, the fee is the only money you put at risk. Starting with a small, low-cost challenge — such as a $3,000, $5,000 or $10,000 account — lets you verify your execution, get comfortable with the daily loss limit on MetaTrader 5, and build a track record before scaling up to a $100,000 or $200,000 evaluation.

Every fee is a one-time payment with no recurring monthly charge, and 100% of the evaluation fee is refunded with your first payout once you become a funded trader. See the full pricing table for all 33 account combinations from $3,000 to $200,000.

What makes a cheap challenge actually worth buying?

A low headline price is only a good deal if the trading rules are fair. Some firms advertise cheap evaluations but attach rules that make passing almost impossible. Before you buy, check these five points:

  1. Static vs. trailing drawdown. A static maximum loss stays fixed at the starting balance (for example $90,000 on a $100,000 account). A trailing drawdown moves up with every dollar of open profit, shrinking your buffer. Capifront uses static drawdown on every plan. Read our drawdown guide for worked examples.
  2. No time limit. A 30-day deadline forces traders to over-leverage. At Capifront there is no time limit on any evaluation phase.
  3. Clear minimum trading days. Standard One-Step and Two-Step challenges require just 4 trading days per phase; Three-Step requires 3 days; Capifront Pro and Instant require none.
  4. No hidden monthly fees. You pay once per evaluation, and the fee is refunded with your first funded payout.
  5. Realistic trading permissions. News trading, Expert Advisors (EAs) and weekend holding are allowed within the trading rules.

Which low-cost challenge fits your budget?

  • Lowest entry cost ($9–$23): The Three-Step $3,000 ($9), $5,000 ($14) and $10,000 ($23) evaluations divide the challenge into three gentle 6% phases.
  • Best all-round value ($10–$25): The Two-Step $3,000 ($10), $5,000 ($15) and $10,000 ($25) plans are the classic 10% + 5% prop firm evaluation.
  • Fastest single-phase route ($15–$35): The One-Step $3,000 ($15) and $10,000 ($35) challenges fund you after one 10% phase.
  • High-capital value ($120–$180): Even $100,000 and $200,000 evaluations start at $120–$180 during launch pricing.
