How much does a prop firm challenge really cost?
A prop firm challenge costs a one-time evaluation fee, and at most firms the price depends on the account size and the rules you choose. Below are Capifront’s exact current fees, what changes the price, and the extra costs worth checking before you buy from any firm.
The short answer
At Capifront a challenge costs a one-time fee from $9 (the $3,000 Three-Step) up to $180 for a $200,000 Two-Step at current launch prices. Instant accounts, which skip the evaluation, start at $70. There is no monthly fee, and the fee is refunded with your first payout once you pass and trade a funded account within the rules.
Capifront challenge fees by account size
One-time launch prices in USD. The standard list price is shown crossed out on the pricing page.
| Account size | Two-Step | One-Step | Three-Step | Pro | Instant |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $3,000 | $10 | $15 | $9 | $20 | — |
| $5,000 | $15 | $25 | $14 | $35 | — |
| $10,000 | $25 | $35 | $23 | $50 | $70 |
| $25,000 | $60 | $65 | $55 | $90 | $150 |
| $50,000 | $84 | $92 | $76 | $128 | $160 |
| $100,000 | $136 | $148 | $120 | $208 | $240 |
| $200,000 | $180 | $220 | $160 | $308 | $360 |
The rules are the same percentage on every size: for example, the Two-Step target is 10% then 5%, with a 5% daily and 10% overall loss limit whether the account is $3,000 or $200,000.
What changes the price
- Account size. A bigger simulated balance costs more, because the possible reward is bigger.
- Number of phases. Three-Step (three 6% phases) is the cheapest, Two-Step is the classic middle option, and One-Step costs a little more because you pass in a single 10% phase.
- Rule set. Capifront Pro has an 8% target, no minimum trading days and wider 6% / 12% loss limits, so it costs about twice as much.
- No evaluation. Instant accounts skip the challenge entirely, so the fee is much higher.
Optional add-ons
Two optional add-ons are priced as a percentage of the base fee at checkout:
- 90% profit split (instead of the base 80%): +25% of the fee.
- No minimum trading days (Two-Step, One-Step and Three-Step only): +15% of the fee.
Example: a $10,000 Two-Step costs $25. With the 90% split it becomes $31, and with both add-ons $35. Pro and Instant do not need the minimum-days add-on, because they have no minimum days.
What you can earn back
The fee is the price of the evaluation, not a deposit, and it is never traded. If you pass and trade the funded (simulated) account within the rules, you can request a payout 14 days after the account becomes active and every 14 days after that. Your evaluation fee is returned with that first payout.
Example: on a $10,000 funded account, $500 of simulated profit with the base 80% split means a $400 performance reward, plus your $25 fee back. Each payout request is capped at 5% of the starting balance ($500 on $10,000), and anything above the cap carries forward. Payouts are discretionary rewards under the trading rules — no earnings are guaranteed.
Hidden costs to check at any prop firm
A cheap headline price can still be expensive. Before you buy any challenge, check:
- Monthly or subscription fees. Some firms bill every month until you pass. Capifront: none.
- Activation fees charged when you get funded. Capifront: none.
- Payout or withdrawal fees. Capifront charges none; if a blockchain network fee applies, it is shown before you confirm.
- Retakes. If you break a rule, you start again with a new evaluation at the normal price.
- The drawdown type. A trailing drawdown makes passing harder, which makes a cheap fee more likely to be lost. Capifront uses static limits — see the drawdown guide.
Which size should you buy first?
Pick a size whose fee you would be comfortable losing, because most first attempts fail on a rule rather than on the target. Since the percentages are identical on every size, a small account is a cheap way to learn the rules; you can move to a larger account once you have passed. Compare the formats in one-step vs two-step, and see the lowest-cost options.
Capifront accounts are simulated (demo) accounts with virtual funds. The fee pays for access to the evaluation; it is not an investment.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a $10K prop firm challenge at Capifront?
A $10,000 account costs $25 (Two-Step), $35 (One-Step), $23 (Three-Step), $50 (Pro) or $70 (Instant, no evaluation). Each is a one-time fee at current launch prices.
Is there a monthly fee?
No. You pay once per evaluation. There are no monthly, activation or withdrawal fees.
Do I get the challenge fee back?
Yes. When you pass, trade the funded account within the rules and receive your first payout, the evaluation fee is returned with that payout.
Why are the fees this low?
These are launch prices; the standard list price is shown crossed out on the pricing page. The rules are the same on every account size, so a low fee does not mean easier or harder rules.
